IFCCI General Counsel & Corporate Affairs Club organized a Session on ESG - Necessity or Obligation, on 14th December 2023, in hybrid format.
IFCCI’s General Counsel and Corporate Affairs Club organized a hybrid session on ESG: Necessity or Obligation on 14th December 2023 in New Delhi.
Ms. Rishika Roy, Head - Committees & Partnerships at IFCCI, while welcoming the participants, gave an overview of IFCCI and the various committees, with a specific mention about this Club which is a group of 30+ General Counsels, Legal Heads and Corporate Affairs Heads of Indian and French companies.
Ms. Lubinisha Saha, Chairperson, IFCCI General Counsel & Corporate Affairs Club & General Counsel, Airbus India and International shared a video message for the members outlining the vision and the commitment of this Club in fostering knowledge sharing and hosting similar meaningful sessions for its members.
Ms. Farnawaz Mistry, Vice Chairperson of IFCCI's General Counsel & Corporate Affairs Club & Head - Legal & Compliance at Roquette India set the context for the Discussion and welcomed Mr. Manishi Pathak, Founding Partner, Anhad Law, the Knowledge Partner for the Session.
Mr. Pathak gave a brief background on the emerging ESG mandate in corporate governance, which was then followed by a Panel Discussion on the subject wherein he was in conversation with Ms. Lily Tsen, General Counsel, Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific; Ms. Priyam Dhamankar, Legal & Compliance Director, Servier India and Mr. Ramakrishnan Ramanathan, Vice President - Born Electric Vehicle, New Mobility, Renault Group. The Panelists shared some interesting thoughts on the difference between CSR and ESG, the impact of ESG on company's brand reputation, customer loyalty and employee engagement, the impact on the financials of a company, the importance of a stakeholder-driven approach and the common challenges faced by General Counsels and the Legal team in its implementation.
Some of the queries raised by members pertained to the ESG framework and reporting. The Session was moderated by Ms. Aarushi Gautam, Manager - Committees & Events (North)
