French Singer Keen To Open Music Academy

French singer and a ballet dancer Camille Van de Weghe is keen to set a music academy in the city to promote and teach youths about western classical music.

Camille, who studied singing, dancing, and drama in prestigious schools such as Le Concervatoire de Paris, Les Cours Florent Paris, and Mountview Performing School London said that she is impressed with the people of the city and the interest shown by them in western classical music.

“It is my first visit to the city. I am exploring ideas to set up an academy in association with any organisation so that youths can take lessons on western music,” she said. She added that though the plan is at nascent stage but she would explore with the idea to set up academy to promote music.  

“We need to teach our children classical music whether it is western or India. We need to make them aware its importance.  Though awareness and exposure to Western classical music in the city is limited compared to other metros but I was surprised to see the brimming talent here,” she said.

Camille has studied with great teachers like Luciana Serra from La Scala Milan, David Charles ABELL, Conductor of Les Misérables 10th and 25th birthday concert or Leila Florentino main role in Miss Saigon on Broadway.  Camille performed herself in the role of Christine in the Phantom of the opera in France and was the principal in the operetta L’Amour masqué by Messager. She has performed in many concerts in various theatres and won many singing competitions in France. She has prepared singer for entrance examinations in conservatoire.
