The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), in partnership with the Consulate General of France in Mumbai, hosted an event on 'Successful Women in Business: Journeys and Leadership Insights' on Friday, March 1st, 2024, at the Residence of the Consul General of France in Mumbai. It was a moment to honour and celebrate the enduring spirit of women's leadership across a spectrum of success stories, spanning from foreign policy and the business landscape to the startup ecosystem and Indian film industry.

Ms. Shweta Pahuja, Regional Director (Western Region) at IFCCI, initiated the session by emphasizing the significance of diversity in the workplace culture that women leaders can contribute to today. Mr. Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, Consul General of France in Mumbai, restated the significance of women's leadership and underscored the need for active male involvement in the endeavor to foster diversity in our work culture. Country representatives from Germany, Spain, Mexico, and Netherlands delivered special speeches to highlight their contributions to Feminist Foreign Policy (FFP), a diplomatic strategy aimed at advancing gender equality.

This was followed by two captivating panel discussions. During the first panel discussion, industry stalwarts deliberated on navigating women's leadership in an evolving business environment. Through dynamic conversations and shared experiences, participants delved into various topics, including the perspective of women's rights within the Indian legal framework, the role of AI in fostering equality, engagement with young female professionals, the evolution of women's leadership, women in STEM fields, and their dedication to achieving SDG 5, which aims to promote gender equality and empower women and girls.

In the second panel, we featured a compelling lineup of women entrepreneurs who shared their strategies for scaling a business from the ground up. These startup founders discussed the inherent biases encountered by women entrepreneurs, the involvement of rural women in the workforce, establishing a branded business within unregulated market conditions, and expanding within the D2C space.

For the closing session, we had a fireside chat between Mr. Asad Lalljee and Ms. Jasmeet Reen who discussed on the narrative around women telling women stories and how building resilience in a film industry like ours can take one on a long way. Mr. Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet gave the closing remarks. Overall, the event was a rousing success, thanks largely to our incredible speakers who shared their valuable insights with our participants.
