The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI), Mumbai in association with Sri City organized a webinar on ‘Integrating Industrial Parks into World-Class Business Destinations’ on Wednesday, 20th November 2024.

Ms Tracy Fernandes, Sr. Manager, Events and Membership, IFCCI commenced the session by setting the context of the webinar and introduced the speakers – Mr. R. Shivshanker, Senior Vice President-Marketing, Sri City Pvt Ltd and Mr. Bodgan George, AVP- Marketing and Business Development, Sri City Pvt Ltd

During the presentation, the key points highlighted were the following:

  • Established in 2008, Sri City has undergone a remarkable transformation from a backward district to a premier business hub. Located just 55 km north of Chennai, it boasts excellent connectivity via major road, rail, and sea networks. Spread across 8,500 acres, Sri City comprises various operational zones, including a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Domestic Tariff Zone (DTZ), Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ), and an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster.
  • Sri City is home to over 220 companies from more than 30 countries, including Fortune 500 corporations. Its multi-sector focus spans industries such as Automotive, FMCG, Electronics, Renewable Energy, and more. The development model emphasizes a balanced approach to Work, Live, Learn, and Play, with integrated living spaces, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and lifestyle amenities enriching the ecosystem.
  • Sustainability is a core pillar of Sri City’s operations, with initiatives like a zero groundwater usage policy, 30 MW solar energy generation, and 100% sewage treatment ensuring environmental compliance. The park also promotes social equity, with women comprising 50% of its workforce.
  • They also highlighted its key differentiators from other industrial parks, including proximity to four major seaports and two airports, a single-window clearance system ensuring approvals within 21 days, and plug-and-play infrastructure. Additionally, its competitive pricing makes it a highly attractive destination compared to other industrial parks.

The session was highly interactive, with the audience raising numerous questions about how Sri City overcame initial challenges, such as increasing investor awareness and addressing stakeholder needs, through strategic infrastructure development, location advantages, and government support.

The webinar concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Tracy Fernandes. The session was well attended by about 50+ participants.
