New Delhi: Networking Dinner With DIPP & Invest India For CEOs Of French Companies In India

The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) and the French Embassy in India with H.E. Mr Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of France to India led a large CEO delegation of French companies to meet with Invest India and the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) to discuss best practices for ease of doing business in India. This meeting was organized a few days after the formation of a new Government at the center.

This meeting was attended by 30 CEOs of top French companies from across sectors such as defence and aerospace, renewable energy, food processing, retail, consumer goods, healthcare, etc. This closed-door session with Mr Ramesh Abhishek, Secretary, DIPP and Mr Deepak Bagla, CEO, Invest India aimed at understanding issues and challenges faced by French companies.

IFCCI along with Trilegal released a White Paper based on a survey conducted among French companies in India on improving the Ease of Doing Business. The White Paper notes that the top recommendations from respondents of French businesses on setting up of a business in India included the need for wider adoption of single window clearance mechanisms and time bound grant of approvals, improvement in government implementation processes and administrative capacity building and need for labour reforms and skill development.

This meeting was organized days after the formation of a new Government in India. France is currently one of the top investors in India with more than 600 established companies in India employing more than 350,000 people. Bilateral trade crossed 16 bn€ in 2018 which doubled in the past ten years.
