Delegation Of Indian Film Producers Explore France's Occitanie Region

Representatives from five major production houses in Bollywood are currently on a five-day tour of the Occitanie region in southern France, visiting the must-see places of the region to identify probable shoot locations.

The initiative, organised by the French Embassy in India in collaboration with Film France and Languedoc Roussillon Cinema, is aimed at promoting France's diverse and picturesque regions, aside from Paris, as filming destinations for Indian movies.

"France offers a wide range of breathtaking locations, from mountains like the French Alps and extinct volcanoes set in beautiful, rugged landscapes to idyllic coastal locations, such as the Riviera and draws 30 million tourists annually," a statement from the France Embassy said.

The five-day tour which began on April 17 includes visits of producers to Occitanie's eight UNESCO World Heritage sites, besides the region's famous heritage areas and diverse natural settings such as the fairy-tale medieval city of Carcassonne; the colossal Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard, close to the Roman town of Nimes; the scenic Canal du Midi waterway a masterpiece of engineering and the stunning Cirque de Gavarnie, a spectacular, natural bowl-like rock formation in the Pyrenees mountains.

"Starting with the glinting blue waters of Mediterranean to the Corbieres wine region featuring wetlands dotted with flamingos as well as striking castle-topped mountains, they will end their tour in Toulouse and the quaint village of Saint Antonin-Noble-Val, following in the footsteps of the late Om Puri in 'The Hundred-foot Journey'," the statement added.

The producers will also meet professionals from the region and from Film France, the agency in charge of facilitating filming in France.

The visiting group includes Aashish Singh, Vice President - Production, Yash Raj Films; Kassim Jagmagia, Creative Head - Excel Entertainment; Kanchan Marathe, Director (Creative and Production) - Viacom 18 Media Pvt. Ltd.; Nishanthan Niruthan, General Manager - Lyca Productions and Kulmeet Makkar, CEO - Film and Television Producers Guild of India.
