Chennai : Intercultural Collaboration Workshop

IFCCI Chennai in association with Chennai Accueil, Alliance Française of Madras & Ikan Relocations organized a workshop on Intercultural Collaboration on Saturday, 27th October at Novotel Chennai Chamiers Road.

Followed by a welcoming address by IFCCI, the workshop started with a brainstorming session led by Ms. Sunita Nichani that enabled both Indian & French participants engage as a team in discussions. Ms. Sunita Nichani, President-SIETAR & Head of corporate training at Alliance Française of Madras, followed this session by an interesting presentation to help understand the culture barrier between people of different culture.

Following Ms. Sunita’s talk, Mr. Mathieu Jouve-Villard, India Country Manager, CIC-Crédit Mutuel, gave a presentation on his book “Practical Guide to Negotiating in India” and touched upon the various aspects to consider while doing business in India. Drawing on his experience in India of more than 15 years, Mr Mathieu helped give a new dimension to understanding business strategies to be considered in foreign land.

A panel discussion followed the presentations. The Panelists included Ms. Elisa Khetty - India Country Manager at Helma International, Ms. Sheela Elizabeth - Finance General Manager at Renault Nissan Joint venture India, Mr. Malcolm Messier - Route Development Manager at Bollore Logistics, Mr. Christian Fabre - Director at Christian Fabre Textiles & Mr. Rohit Kumar - Managing Director at Ikan Relocations. Moderated by Mr. Mathieu, the discussions were very interesting as the speakers detailed on their personal experiences within the Indo-French business community and the different challenges they have dealt with.

The discussions prompted both Indian & French participants to come up with questions & different opinions from their perspective and experiences. We welcomed over 50 participants for the workshop.
