Airbus Unveils Nature-Inspired IT Office In Bangalore, India

The sustainability-driven centre offers Braille coding and features amphitheatres, nap rooms, bedrooms, and showers

Airbus India, part of Netherlands-based European aerospace corporation Airbus, has opened its new nature-inspired information management centre in Bengaluru, the capital of India’s Karnataka state, to support the expansion of its local information technology (IT) and digital operations.

With a capacity of more than 500 people, the facility will use virtual computing to reduce its carbon footprint and has been designed to allow the entry of natural light.

The centre is equipped with wheelchair-friendly facilities and offers Braille coding.

In a statement, Airbus said that the facility was built to support remote collaboration, with workstations across the office being touchscreen-friendly systems.

The centre also features amphitheatres, nap rooms, bedrooms, and showers.

Speaking about the facility, president and managing director of Airbus India and South Asia, Anand E Stanley, said: “Airbus is leveraging the strength of India that includes talent, the ability to scale volume, and the extremely strong presence of an ecosystem which perhaps is the largest IT partner base in the world.”

Stanley explained that the information management centre was focused on value play and insourcing, rather than outsourcing.

Chief innovation officer at Airbus India and South Asia, Carlo Nizam, said that the company’s footprint in India was “a strategic and integrated arm of information management” that provided access to “a vast pool of skilled talent”.
