IFCCI organized a knowledge-sharing Session on 360° Overview on Expat Taxation, on 2nd February 2024 in a hybrid format with RKCA & Co LLP.
Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) organised a knowledge-sharing Session on 360° Overview on Expat Taxation, on 2nd February 2024 in a hybrid format. The Session was led by RKCA & Co. LLP.
Ms. Aarushi Gautam, Manager - Committees & Events (North), IFCCI welcomed the participants and introduced the speakers for the session; Mr. Rahul Kapoor, Managing Partner, RKCA & Co. LLP, Ms. Kiran Bala, General Manager, International Taxation & FEMA, RKCA & Co. LLP, Ms. Deveeka Sharma, Charted Accountant, RKCA & Co. LLP and Ms. Nisha Rana, Manager - Advisory Services, RKCA & Co. LLP.
Mr. Rahul Kapoor enlightened the members on the different aspects of expat taxation, including the Permanent Establishment (PE), Tie Breaker Rule under Indo-French Tax Treaty for determination of the tax residency and interplay between tax treaty & income tax act and the tax credit availment procedures and talked about the practical and common challenges being faced by expats. He also emphasized on taxation for French employee's global income by virtue of his tax residency in France.
Ms. Deveeka Sharma spoke about the capital gains, covering the shares of the movable and immovable property. Ms. Kiran Bala briefed the participants about the royalty & fee for technical services and the tax credit limit. Ms Nisha Rana gave detailed insights on availment of Tax Credit, Old vs New Tax Regime and Exemptions & Deductions from Taxes.
Ms. Payal S.Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI, while concluding the Session, thanked the Speakers and the firm for an informative Session.
This was followed by a highly engaging Q&A session with members.
