The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), in collaboration with the French Chambers of Vietnam, Australia, Thailand, and Kazakhstan, successfully organized a webinar on ‘Cultivating the Future: A Regional Approach to Green and Sustainable Agriculture’.
The webinar commenced with Welcome Remarks by Mr. Adam Kouaksegian, highlighting the role and network of CCIFI and its regional agro committees in driving collaborative efforts for sustainable agriculture.
Ms. Marion Chaminade, Regional Counsellor, shared key insights on climate-related studies in ASEAN countries, emphasizing the region's highly productive agricultural basins. She discussed agroecological practices and their significance in Vietnam, highlighting policies for adaptation to climate change and green growth. She also addressed Thailand’s transition to smart agriculture, focusing on innovation and digitalization.
Ms. Monique Tran, Regional Counsellor, presented case studies on India's transitions in organic and natural farming, with examples from Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat. She also discussed agroforestry projects that bridge the gap between the green revolution and sustainable agriculture.
The webinar featured an engaging segment of case study presentations:
- Vietnam: Mr. Jean-Luc Vinot, founder of Les Vergers du Mékong, elaborated on connecting farmers to consumers while reducing carbon footprints.
- India: Dr. Vignesh Janakiraman, Country Head, TIMAC AGRO India, discussed innovative strategies for climate adaptation in agriculture.
- Thailand: A representative from FlyLab showcased agritech innovations driving smart agricultural practices.
The session concluded with a Q&A session, where participants engaged with the speakers to explore practical applications of sustainable and green agricultural practices.
