The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), under the aegis of its Food & Agri and Technology Committees, successfully organized a webinar on ‘The Rise of AgriTech in India: Building a Resilient and Sustainable Ecosystem’ on 22nd August 2024.
The session opened with insightful remarks by Ms. Payal S. Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI, followed by welcome addresses from Dr. Vignesh Janakiraman, Chairperson - IFCCI Food & Agri Committee & Country Head, TIMAC Agro India, and Mr. Clifton Menezes, Chairperson - IFCCI Technology Committee & Executive Vice President, Capgemini India.
Mr. Hari Sankar PS, Director, TNP India, set the stage with a presentation that underscored the role of technological advancements in boosting agricultural productivity while ensuring sustainability. Ms. Shreya Suri, Partner, IndusLaw, skillfully moderated a distinguished panel featuring Mr. Jacko Obels, Industry Lead Agriculture & Commodity Trading, Capgemini Netherlands; Dr. Vignesh Janakiraman, Country Head, TIMAC AGRO India; and Mr. Bharat Budhiraja, CEO, Urbana Superfoods. The panelists shared invaluable insights into the future of agriculture in India, emphasizing balanced organic farming from Seed to Fork, low-temperature preservation, and the reduction of food wastage through cold chain infrastructure and precision farming.
A key highlight was a case study presented by Mr. Charles-Henri Lignet, Procurement Director - Brazil, Royal Canin, who delved into the importance of a robust agricultural supply chain and the role of technology in optimizing it.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where participants explored practical applications of the ideas discussed and a vote of thanks by Mr. Govind Suryawanshi, Vice Chairperson, IFCCI Food & Agri Committee & Director - Corporate Affairs (India, SEA & South Africa), Royal Canin.
