IFCCI virtual workshop on BIS Certification for Footwear with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Department of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India

IFCCI in collaboration with the BIS, organized an interactive virtual workshop on BIS Certification for Footwear on 7th May 2024.

The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Department of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India, organized an interactive virtual workshop on BIS Certification for Footwear on 7th May 2024.

The workshop was a culmination of the ongoing discussions and correspondence with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India regarding BIS standards for footwear earlier this year.

Ms. Payal S. Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI extended a warm welcome to the members and distinguished speakers from the BIS. The workshop was conducted by:

• Shri Pinaki Gupta, Head, Central Marks Department-2
• Shri Aditya Das, Scientist D and Jt Director, Central Marks Department-2
• Shri Amit Chaudhary, Scientist D and Jt Director, Central Marks Department-2
• Shri Pravir Kumar Chaubey, Scientist C and Deputy Director, Foreign Manufacturers Certification Department

The workshop helped members understand the nuances of the certification and implementation process and address the queries and concerns faced by the foreign footwear manufacturers.

Ms. Aarushi Gautam, Manager - Committees & Events (North), in her closing remarks, thanked the BIS officials for their support in helping the foreign manufacturing companies ease into the new footwear standards.
