The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) and United Nations India successfully convened a collaborative interaction on October 14, 2024, at the UN India Office in New Delhi. The closed-door meeting brought together an ecosystem of French industry members, the French Embassy, and UN agencies to explore synergies and partnerships in the areas of CSR, Sustainability, Human Rights, and Diversity & Inclusion.
Cynthia McCaffrey, UN Resident Coordinator a.i. and UNICEF India Representative, underscored the significance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in addressing global challenges. She highlighted the pivotal role of the private sector in embedding sustainability into their core operations and driving lasting interventions through system strengthening, scale, inclusion and innovation.
Payal S. Kanwar, Director General of IFCCI, provided an overview of IFCCI’s work, emphasizing the growing French presence in India and the leading role IFCCI has taken in advancing CSR initiatives across the country.
Key UN agencies, including UN Women, UNDP, UNESCO, UNIDO, ILO, UNICEF, UNHCR, and WHO, presented their objectives and the ongoing initiatives in India. This was followed by insights from Shad Joynal Abedin, Political Counsellor, Embassy of France in India and the French Industry members who shared potential interest areas for collaboration and contributed to the discussions - Ms. Renu Rohatgi, Leadership Director Programs, Air Liquide; Ms. Sapna Bhawnani, Vice President Communications & CSR APAC, Alstom Transport; Ms. Charlotte Milhau, Corporate Affairs Executive, India, Engie; Ms. Nida Khanam, Head of Human Resources & CSR - India & Greater India, Socomec; Mr. Anurag Pratap, CSR Leader, Capgemini India & Chairperson, IFCCI CSR Committee; Ms. Priyam Dhamankar, Legal & Compliance Director & Company Secretary, Servier & Vice Chairperson, IFCCI CSR Committee; Mr. Hemant Gadgil, Former Programme Director, Dassault Systemes Foundation & Vice Chairperson, IFCCI CSR Committee; Ms. Abida Aneez, Vice President - CSR and Sustainability, Legrand and Ms. Sheilaja Raje Singh, Head of Marketing, Communication, and Sustainability, Veolia.
The meeting reinforced the need to leverage the collective strengths and partnerships to help achieve the Global Goals.
