The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), in collaboration with Rödl & Partner, hosted an engaging virtual session on “BIS Regulations Unveiled” on 14th May 2025.
The session commenced with welcome remarks by Ms. Aarushi Gautam, Sr. Manager – Committees & Events (North), IFCCI, who highlighted the growing importance of BIS certification in enabling product safety, market access, and consumer trust across diverse sectors.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Mr. Mayank Tripathi, Consultant at Rödl & Partner, who provided a structured overview of the BIS ecosystem, certification schemes, regulatory evolution, and key action steps for manufacturers. The presentation focused on:
BIS certification schemes (ISI, FMCS, CRS, Scheme X)
Mandatory Quality Control Orders (QCOs)
Compliance steps for foreign manufacturers
Omnibus Technical Regulation Order 2024
The session concluded with an interactive and engaging Q&A round, where participants sought clarifications on certification for used equipment, the role and responsibilities of the Authorized Indian Representative (AIR), participation in BIS consultations, and the implications of non-compliance at customs.
The session was attended by over 100 companies from across the Indo-French business ecosystem.
