The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI), in collaboration with Aarayaa Advisory Services and Corporate Finance International (CFI Group), organized a session on "France-India Mergers & Acquisitions and Investment Opportunities" on November 12, 2024, in Mumbai.
Ms. Shweta Pahuja, Regional Director, IFCCI (Western Region), commenced the session with welcome remarks, followed by a comprehensive presentation led by Mr. Jean-Marc Teurquetil, Chairman and Managing Partner, and Mr. Raj Shroff, Partner and Managing Director, at CFI Group.
Some of the key points of discussion included the following :
- The event highlighted the economic strength of both nations, positioning India as the world’s 5th largest economy and France as the 7th. Their projected growth underscores ambitions to reach $30 trillion for India and $6 trillion for France by 2047
- Trade dynamics were explored, highlighting India’s exports of petroleum products, apparel, and pharmaceuticals to France, and France’s exports of machinery, aircraft, and medical equipment to India. Insights into Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) also demonstrated France’s contributions to India’s industrial and tech sectors.
- The presentation also highlighted sectoral opportunities for investment as mentioned in the Horizon 2047 roadmap:
- Renewable Energy: Driven by India’s net-zero goals.
- Defence: Collaboration in aerospace and cybersecurity.
- IT & BPM: With the current market size of USD 244bn, the projected target is set to exceed USD 1tn by 2047.
- Healthcare: Major growth opportunities in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
- Legal and Cultural Insights: French regulations, labour laws, business incentives and cultural etiquettes were discussed, providing Indian businesses with insights on best practices for partnership success.
- Success Stories: Notable Indo-French ventures, such as Saint-Gobain and Choksey Chemicals, as well as L'OCCITANE and MyGlamm were highlighted.
The session was attended by over 40 members and concluded with a Q&A session, followed by a networking dinner.
