Hybrid Session on, 'The Essential Guide to Expat Compensation and Taxation in India'

IFCCI HR Committee in association with Deloitte successfully concluded an important knowledge session on 6th June 2024 on the topic, ‘The Essential Guide on Expat Compensation and Taxation in India’.

The Session began with Welcome Remarks by Ms. Rishika Roy, Head – Committees and Partnerships, IFCCI who welcomed all participants and thanked the Annual Patrons of IFCCI HR Committee FY23-24 for their support throughout the year.

Mr. Laurent Ladroyes, Personnel Director – India, Michelin & Chairperson – IFCCI HR Committee, opened the session and talked about the Expatriate program at Michelin highlighting that they currently have a sizeable number of permanent employees who are working away from their home Countries. He also shared a brief on the Expatriate Compensation and Benefits packages at Michelin.

Ms. Snehalata Deshmukh, General Manager, Naval Group India & Vice- Chairperson – IFCCI HR Committee led a brief session on Company Best Practices covering the factors responsible for holistic compensation for Expats in India.

We sincerely thank Mr. Divya Baweja, Mr. Nitin Baijal and Ms. Preeti Gupta from Deloitte India for leading this critical session and addressing all the queries received from the HR Committee Members. The presentation covered all important aspects such as the Global Taxation law, DTAA, Social Security Agreement of 2011 between India & France, PF Deductions etc. They also shed light on the upcoming revamped Labour codes which aim at providing uniformity to the currently scattered legislative codes for easy accessibility of the Expats.

The session ended with Ms. Shalini Nair Kumar, Head – P&C, Amadeus & Vice- Chairperson – IFCCI HR Committee sharing a Vote of Thanks to all the Speakers and Participants for their time and interest in this key topic for the HR Community.

The session was highly interactive and saw participation from C-Suite level Expats along with the members of IFCCI HR Committee.
