Key Insights from the Session
• The Future of Career Growth Building a career today is more than just securing a job—it’s about navigating opportunities, making informed decisions, and evolving continuously. The discussion highlighted the importance of deep expertise alongside management roles and how adaptability, critical thinking, and continuous learning are crucial for long-term success.
• Leadership vs. Expertise – Owning Your Path The traditional management career path is no longer the only route to success. Organizations are increasingly recognizing specialist roles as equally valuable, especially as AI and automation reshape industries. Professionals must choose paths that align with their interests-whether as leaders or subject-matter experts.
• India’s Growing Opportunities in Global Capability Centers (GCCs) GCCs in India are shifting from cost-saving models to innovation hubs, creating high-value job opportunities in technology, finance, and compliance. Success in these evolving industries depends on a growth mindset, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Soft Skills & The Future of Work Technical skills alone aren’t enough- careers today demand collaboration, inclusivity, adaptability, and respect. The session emphasized that intellectual curiosity, resilience, and the ability to learn from failures set professionals apart in today’s competitive job market.
• Career Development at BNP Paribas Mr. Rupathevan shared his career journey, having transitioned across five different HR roles, working with global teams before taking up his current position in India. Each move helped him develop new skills, adapt to different cultural contexts, and build a strong career foundation. He encouraged job seekers to be proactive in their job search, research potential employers, and take charge of their career paths.
