B'luru Civic Body, French Firm Launch Waste Management Study

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India] June 7 : Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and French environmental technology company 3WAYSTE launched a technical feasibility study on waste management in Karnataka's Bengaluru city.

The study will look at how to deploy the company's patented waste management technology under the local conditions in Bengaluru.

The study will be carried out in cooperation with BBMP and French Government under its FASEP program.

The kick-off meeting at BBMP was attended by BBMP Commissioner Maheshwara Rao, Joint Commissioner Waste Management Safaraz Khan, Bengaluru Mayor Sampath Raj, the French Ambassador to India Alexandre Ziegler, company representatives and invited guests.

3WAYSTE CEO Robert Filipp said, "Waste management is a recognised priority by the government and local authorities. We are delighted to be part of the solution with our patented technology, which is capable of recovering more than 90 percent of any waste and converting it into energy, compost and raw materials. We believe the Bengaluru project can serve as a model showcase for other cities."

Meanwhile, ACS Urban Development Mahendra Jain said, "Bengaluru desperately needs waste-to-energy solution. Only then will the value of waste as a resource be realized. The new waste processing system will significantly improve the situation in Bengaluru and we are working closely with 3WAYSTE to start operations as quickly as possible. There will be a demand for waste and waste will find its way to the plants rather than stay in public places."
