The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), under the aegis of its CSR Committee and in association with BTG Legal, organised a Webinar on 'Navigating ESG: Unveiling Value, Risks, and Regulations', on 5th July 2023.
Ms. Rishika Roy, Head – Committees & Partnerships, IFCCI welcomed the speakers and participants and briefly described about the Chamber's CSR Committee as well as the recent launch of its CSR Department.
Mr. Ramakrishnan Ramanathan, Vice Chairperson, IFCCI CSR Committee & Vice President - Born Electric Vehicle, Renault Group, while setting the context, talked about the difference between CSR and ESG and the key scoring parameters, sharing some industry-specific examples. He also enlightened the participants about Renault’s target of Net Zero Emissions by 2030 in Europe and by 2040 Globally.
Mr. Prashant Mara, Managing Partner, BTG Legal gave a detailed presentation on the classification of ESG, the global framework, the regulatory/reporting standards in India, ESG values, high risk areas in Indian supply chain, whistle-blower programs and their effectiveness in India, due diligence and investigations, local cultural nuances and the oversight from French HQ and potential corporate liability in India.
This was followed by an engaging interactive session with members with queries around ESG reporting and maintaining balance between ESG compliances with European standards and profitability.
The session was moderated by Ms. Aarushi Gautam, Manager – Committees & Events (North), IFCCI and attended by over 60 member participants from companies such as Sodexo, M+V, Safran Group, Safran Helicopters, Be Energy, Ceva Polchem, Suez, Kotak Mahindra, Accor, Saint Gobain, Renault, Norex Flavours, ICICI, Air Liquide, ASA, Dua Associates, UJA to name a few.
