Khadi And Royalty Come Together In France

Last Sunday afternoon, the Chantilly Polo Club in France saw an interesting mix of sports, fashion and royalty. This year’s edition of Nobility For Ability Charity Polo Cup was held in France and was attended by some eminent French and Indian guests. Diya Kumari from the Jaipur royal family was one of the guests at the event, which was aimed at raising funds for women empowerment and for the differently-abled in India. Diya Kumari’s son Padmanabh Singh, who is also a polo player, participated in the exhibition polo match at the event.

The 10-goal polo match was followed by a khadi fashion show by designer Charu Parashar. Adding a little quirk to the event, the show had models posing on horses in khadi couture outfits. “Promotion of Indian fabrics has been our collective aim for the last few years. The idea here was to show how we can present khadi in couture designs,” Charu said.
