IFCCI's first Logistics and Supply Chain Committee meeting for 2022-23 was organized on Thursday, 28th July 2022 under the new leadership of Chairperson, Mr. Vaibhav Vohra, Managing Director, Continental Carriers and Vice-Chairperson, Capt. Ram Iyer, Vice-President, Seahorse Shipping Pvt. Ltd.

Ms. Payal S. Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI welcomed the new Leadership for the Committee and highlighted that the Committee has been one of the most active Committees at the Chamber and has been undertaking several successful initiatives for its member companies in the past few years. This year, the Committee has been revamped to encompass supply chain as a focus area.

Ms. Rishika Roy, Head - Committees & Partnership, IFCCI presented the activities conducted in the past and apprised the participants on the award won by the Logistics & Maritime Committee at the IndoFrench Business Awards 2020 as the Best performing sectoral committee.

Mr. Vaibhav Vohra and Capt. Iyer welcomed the participants and highlighted the broad focus areas identified by the Committee for this year. He invited the Committee members to introduce themselves and share their suggestions on the initiatives that can be undertaken by the Committee during the course of this year.

Some of the important ideas brought up during the discussion:

• A questionnaire/survey for members to learn the challenges faced by them in this industry and to take feedback on their interest areas for advocacy initiatives (top 3 topics and Ministries)

• A Knowledge-sharing Session on IMO 2023 was proposed by CMA CGM that could be organised in a series – the first one in 1 st week of September followed by the 2nd one in December

• Joint Committee collaboration

• A dedicated meeting (advocacy) with MEA/MOCI regarding roadblocks and challenges in trade between India and Bangladesh

• A Session around EXIM & supply chain regulations and customs duties

• A Recommendation document to be prepared by the Committee over the course of the year based on issues received from members, that would help in giving a direction for a Representation document

• A Session on Gati Shakti

• Interaction around sustainability with ESG gaining lot of traction

• Event with Academia (ISEL, NITIE identified)

• Site visits to any company site or port

Members offered support for the above-mentioned initiatives and the session concluded with a Vote of thanks by Ms. Rishika Roy, Head - Committees & Partnership, IFCCI.
