European car manufacturer Groupe PSA had announced in February 2019 that it will introduce Citroen brand in India, with the first vehicle expected to be launched here before the end of 2021. However, the company had not revealed the Citroen model to be driven into India.

But several media reports are now claiming that C5 Aircross SUV will be the first Citroen product heading to India. A formal announcement in this regard will be made by Groupe PSA on April 3. During the presentation of FY2018 financial results, the decision to bring Citroen to India was taken by Groupe PSA's Chairman of Managing Board Carlos Tavares.

The UK-spec new C5 Aircross SUV offers a range of efficient and powerful Euro 6.2 engines, with the six-speed manual gearbox or the eight-speed automatic gearbox. There are two petrol versions: PureTech 130 S&S six-speed manual and PureTech 180 S&S eight-speed automatic, and three diesel versions: BlueHDi 130 six-speed manual, BlueHDi 130 S&S eight-speed automatic and BlueHDi 180 S&S eight-speed automatic.
