NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in the presence of United Nations secretary-general Antonio Guterres on Tuesday, 2nd of October.
ISA, a joint initiative of India and France launched in 2015 to galvanise 121 potential member countries to increase their solar footprint, is aimed to mobilise $1 trillion to generate 1,000 gw of solar energy by 2030.
Countries that have ratified the ISA treaty framework attended the Assembly as ‘members’ while those that have signed but are yet to ratify the framework attended as ‘observers’.
