IFCCI CSR Committee virtual session on 'Pathways to Purpose: Navigating CSR Projects with Precision'

IFCCI CSR Committee organized a virtual session on 'Pathways to Purpose: Navigating CSR Projects with Precision' on 4th June 2024.

The CSR Committee of the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) organized a virtual session on 'Pathways to Purpose: Navigating CSR Projects with Precision' on 4th June 2024.

Mr. Yohann Samuel, Regional Director - South, IFCCI extended a warm welcome and apprised the participants of the intent and the recent initiatives of IFCCI's CSR Department in executing meaningful CSR projects for its member companies.

Mr. Anurag Pratap, Chairperson, IFCCI CSR Committee & CSR Leader, Capgemini, while setting the context, highlighted the commendable 10 years of CSR in India, that have impacted the society in different ways and advocated for a collective CSR journey to navigate the pathways to purpose.

A rich panel of speakers - Ms. Priyam Dhamankar, Legal and Compliance Director, Company Secretary, Servier India Private Limited & Vice Chairperson, IFCCI CSR Committee, Ms. Anuradha Suvarna, Head - Sustainability & CSR, L'Oréal, Ms. Ribu Choudary, Director Brand & Comms & Head CSR, DEI, Amadeus and Ms. Sapna Bhawnani, Vice President, Communications & CSR (APAC), Alstom, shared valuable insights on ways of maximizing the effectiveness of a CSR project. A few key takeaways from the Session were:

  • potential of research and needs assessment for addressing genuine community needs
  • importance of aligning project objectives with specific SDGs focus on underrepresented SDGs
  • capitalising on the organisational expertise and cross-functional teams for effective running of the systems built around CSR
  • planning a smooth and strategic exit is a part and parcel of a CSR project journey to ensure sustainability

Mr. Hemant Gadgil, Program Director & Mentor, Dassault Systèmes Foundation, India, and Ms. Sunipa Ghosh, Director & Legal Head - India, Dassault Systèmes Group​ shared best practices for impactful CSR project management and interesting learnings through the entire process from project selection to project closure, as well as the legal and financial aspects pertaining to due diligence, board approvals, etc.

Mr. Ketan Deshpande, Founder Chairman & CEO, Friends Union For Energising Lives (FUEL), highlighted certain elements that lead to impactful CSR such as defining clear objectives, understanding stakeholders' needs, focusing on sustainability, and leveraging partnerships.

The session was moderated by Ms. Aarushi Gautam, Manager - Committees & Events (North), IFCCI.
