French students to explore India’s urban challenges

As many as 50 students of Urban Economics of France’s ESSEC Business School are on a study trip to India. “The visiting ESSEC students are exploring challenges faced by Indian cities as opportunities to elaborate solutions that can set an example for cities all over the world.

Our cooperation with India under the Smart Cities Mission is thus expanding every year to tackle accelerating urbanisation and soaring infrastructure needs,” said Ambassador of France Alexandre Ziegler at a recent reception hosted for the students.

The event also brought 50 Indian alumni and students set in the coming months to join ESSEC, which has an ongoing student exchange programme and a dual-degree course with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.

Indian students constitute the second largest nationality at ESSEC. “Their increasing numbers is in line with our focus on the young generation for enhancing Indo-French bilateral relations,” said Ziegler.

He also expressed appreciation over the successful careers of the B-school alumni saying they serve “as ambassadors of France’s outstanding academic standards.”

The ESSEC alumni community in India is around 200. The business school recruits around 150 Indian students annually, who form the institute’s second largest community of foreign students.
