The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), Pune organized a webinar on BIS Registration – An Emerging Compliance For Imports Into India, in association with Ernst & Young LLP on Wednesday, 22 nd May 2024.
The session commenced with welcome remarks by Rucha Awati, Manager – Membership & Events, IFCCI Pune. This was followed by an introduction to the topic by Ms. Ruchi Bhat, Partner, Indirect Taxes, EY. Krishna Barad, Director, Global Trade, EY led the session with his presentation. He gave an overview of the Bureau of India Standards (BIS) and highlighted the schemes under BIS along with which products would fall under which scheme. He also discussed the applicability of Quality Control Orders (QCO).
Further he clarified and simplified the key pointers below:
• What is a QCO?
• What is a BIS License?
• How to obtain a BIS License?
• How to meet BIS requirements?
• What compliance is required for imports?
The webinar was highly engaging with 235 participants and covered FAQs regarding BIS Registration. Ms. Rucha while concluding the session, thanked Mr. Krishna & Ms. Ruchi for a remarkably interesting Session.
