Webinar : Retail Disruption And The Future of E-Commerce

IFCCI under the aegis of the Techology & Retail Committees together organized a virtual discussion on digital transformations of the retail industry.

The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) under the aegis of IFCCI Technology Committee and IFCCI Retail Committee organised the webinar.

The session began with the overview on the topic by Mr. Priyank Prakash, Manager – Events & Membership, IFCCI. The chairman of the IFCCI Technology - Mr. Clifton Menez, EVP - India Cloud Leader at Capgemini, presented the introductory remarks and the vision & initiatives for the committee.

The panellists shared their experiences on the digital transformation journeys, and the tools shaping the retail industry. Collectively they agreed on enhancing priority on customer experiences across the industry through solutions like contactless experience, curb-side pickup and scan & go business models, video commerce, whats app commerce, Instagram business models and many more… They also addressed the changes that needs to be incorporated like the usage of tech to automate processes and reduce workload which in turn reduced the operation costs.

The discussion revolved around the necessity to leverage data and technology in optimizing processes and in re-modelling the stores, while on the other hand they also shed light on the challenges involved during the adaption of digitisation and the time & resources required for the adaption.

During the pandemic, there was a heightened demand from the customers towards sustainable and environment friendly business models involving innovative packaging, newer consumer-centric business models and focus on a brand’s wastage management policies.

With a positive note on the sustainable models for the retail industries the discussion came to an end ensuring a thriving ecosystem in the country.

Mr. Satyen Momaya, Vice-Chairman of the IFCCI Retail Committee and CEO, Celio Future Fashion Pvt Ltd, and Mr. Rishab Suresh Vice-Chairman of the IFCCI Retail Committee and Director, The Gourmet Jar shared the concluding remarks and the objective of the committee.

The event saw an active participation of 65+ companies from both the Indian and French business Community.
