Indo-French Chamber of Commerce sets foot in Chandigarh

Mr Vivek Atray appointed as the Honorary Representative of IFCCI in Chandigarh

Chandigarh- September 23, 2016: The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) launched its representation in Chandigarh by appointing Mr Vivek Atray as their Honorary Representative. Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Hon'ble Governor of Haryana, Mr Jean-Marc Fenet, Minister Counsellor, Head of Regional Economic Service, Embassy of France, and Mr Pierre Behnam, IFCCI President and Ms. Payal S. Kanwar, Secretary General, IFCCI graced the event with their presence.

Mr. Vivek Atray was previously the Director Industries, Haryana and has played a major role in developing the IT Park in Chandigarh, he also spearheaded the national award winning e-Sampark project, a multi-service, single window e-Governance project.

Mr. Pierre Behnam, IFCCI President emphasized on the importance of Chandigarh as a Smart City program and the particular role that France wish to play. “France is very proud to be part of this program. Collaboration scopes are huge between our two countries and more particularly in this program as France is mastering in urban and infrastructure development. In collaboration with the Economic Services of the Embassy we are keen to accompany and help companies which can share their expertise in the fields of urban transport, water and waste treatment, solar energy, urban planning, architecture and heritage, but also institutions which can accompany the investment as well.” He added. “Opening of our Honorary representation is a first and concrete step to facilitate the interaction between Indian and French enterprises ".

Ms. Payal S Kanwar, Secretary General of IFCCI who herself is a native of Chandigarh said "We are very excited about this launch given Chandigarh's historic link with France as well as the upcoming Smart City initiative. The launch of our representation is very timely and we look forward to promoting Indo-French relations in the city".

The event was attended by Embassy of France representatives, French Urban Development delegation, French company CEOs across sectors and IFCCI member companies.
