Chennai : Workshop On 365 Days Of GST

IFCCI in association with The Consulate General of France in Pondicherry, PwC and CEFP organized a workshop on 365 Days of GST on Tuesday, 21st August at The Consulate General of France, Pondicherry.

The workshop started with a welcome address by Mr. Gunasekaran, President, Club Des Entrepreneurs Français de Pondichéry. Following the welcome address, Ms. Catherine Suard, Consul General of France in Pondicherry delivered the keynote address.

Mr. U. Niranjan I.R.S., Commissioner and Mr. S.V. Murugan Mourugaram, I.R.S., Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Principal Commissioner of Central Excise, Pondicherry were present during the workshop.

Mr. Niranjan I.R.S. delivered a special address where he spoke about the economic stabilization of the country since the advent of GST, compared inflation/deflation and tax factors with other countries. He also explained the function of taxes, major challenges and crisis that various sectors of industries face and highlighted the possible growth of the economy in the coming days.

This was followed by a detailed presentation by Mr. Debasis Nayak, Associate Director- Indirect Tax, PwC. Mr. Debasis covered principally the key Statistics on taxpayer base,  major challenges in the GST law & procedures, Governments approach, Corporate experiences, Legislative changes and touched upon the way ahead. 

A very interactive Q&A session followed where Mr. Niranjan IRS and Mr. Debasis took questions from the audience. 

We welcomed over 30 participants for the workshop. 

A second session of the workshop will be organized on the 6th September 2018 at the Bureau de France, Bannari Amman Towers, Mylapore at 9:30 AM.
