Background:

In India, CSR as a concept has evolved since its introduction in 2014 under the Companies Act.  The Ministry of Corporate Affairs recently notified the Companies (Corporate Social Responsibility Policy) Amendment Rules, 2021 introducing a host of changes and some clarifications.

With an increased emphasis on better compliance, governance and creation of impact, it is critical to understand the implications of the new rules.
