Venu Shanbhag is a Mechanical Engineer and a seasoned business leader with over three decades of experience across engineering, operations, sales, marketing and business development. He began his career with Grindwell Norton Ltd. (a Saint-Gobain company) in 1991 as a Management Trainee and, over 18 years, held various roles before becoming Business Head – Bonded Abrasives. During this period, he also worked at the Higgins Grinding Technology Centre in the US, focusing on customer-specific grinding applications.

In 2009, Venu joined Saint-Gobain Sekurit India as Head of Sales, Marketing and Projects and was subsequently part of the leadership team driving the business’s growth in India. In 2015, he was appointed Managing Director of Saint-Gobain Sekurit Thailand, where he led the Sekurit business across Southeast Asia and Australia. He also worked with Central Glass of Japan to establish a joint venture in Indonesia.

After six years in Thailand, Venu returned to India to lead the Sekurit business, steering it through a challenging period and supporting its recovery and growth. He was appointed Executive Director of Grindwell Norton Ltd. in April 2024 and became Managing Director in April 2025. From January 2026, he has also taken on the additional responsibility of Vice President – Industrial Solutions, India.
