  • Thierry van Helden currently is the deputy Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Mumbai. Responsible for promotion of economic relations between India and the Netherlands, promotion of human rights and consular affairs
  • His previous posting was a the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he led the Public Private Partnership team playing a key role in designing the new Dutch Aid, Trade and Investment strategy.
  • Thierry has more than 20 years’ experience in economic development and private sector engagement combining both the development and trade agendas.
  • He has worked on the ground in China on promoting Dutch trade and investments with a development dimension.
  • He has also worked in Ghana on designing the “from aid to trade agenda”, including the transformation of the cocoa, oil palm and horticulture value chains in partnership with the Ghanaian and Dutch private sectors.
  • Domestic Revenue Mobilisation is another area he has contributed to, in close cooperation with Ghanaian and Dutch authorities.
  • He is an expert in operationalizing financial models for public private cooperation as a result of his work at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
  • He holds an MA in Chinese and management from Leiden University and a BA in Chinese and history from University of Sydney.
