Jean-Marc Séré-CharletConsul General of France in Mumbai

Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, alumnus of "Ecole nationale d’administration" (ENA), is a distinguished diplomat of more than 20 years of experience in the diplomatic and cultural fields. Before coming to Mumbai, he was the Deputy Director at the United Nations Department of the French MFA for 6 years, furthering among others the French stance in the UN Security Council. He has also worked as Counsellor in the Embassy of France in Moscow and in the Permanent Representation of France to the European Union in Brussels, as Cultural Counsellor in the French Embassy in Rome and he was diplomatic advisor to the Minister of Culture and Communication in Paris. 

He is not new to India. He was Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in New Delhi (2013-15) which allowed him to explore India quite intensely. Mr. Séré-Charlet has strong interest and good knowledge of her culture, diversity, history and her way of life. 

In his capacity as the Consul General of France in Mumbai, along with the experienced Consular team, Mr. Séré-Charlet looks forward to develop partnerships and cooperation between France and India, namely, in the states of Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli as well as Daman and Diu. He is convinced that France and India share values and interests that deserve to be expanded and strengthened in order to reinforce the long-term friendship between the two countries.
