The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) was pleased to organise in association with RÖDL India Pvt. Ltd. an insightful session on the India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), bringing together 80+ business representatives to explore the agreement’s potential impact on India–EU trade and cross-border business opportunities.
The session featured expert insights from Mr.Atish Laddha, Partner and Head of Indirect Tax Advisory, RÖDL India Pvt. Ltd., who set the context by outlining the background of the FTA, its key provisions and the opportunities it presents for businesses.
Building on this, Ms.Rajvi Shah, Principal Associate, Indirect Tax Advisory, RÖDL India Pvt. Ltd., highlighted the potential benefits and overview of preferential tariffs, the applicability of tariff reductions across sectors, and the importance of understanding rules of origin and compliance requirements to effectively claim these benefits.
The session also covered how businesses can claim preferential tariff benefits under the FTA, highlighting the potential for tariffs to be reduced or eliminated across 97% of the EU’s tariff lines for Indian exports and 92% of India’s tariff lines for EU exports, subject to product-specific staging periods and exclusions. She also emphasised the importance of meeting rules of origin requirements, maintaining supporting documentation, and complying with customs procedures to avail the applicable duty benefits.
The highly interactive Q&A session encouraged engaging discussions, with participants raising relevant questions and exploring the practical implications of the FTA for their businesses.
The session was moderated by Ms.Sania Gurjar, Assistant – Events & Membership, IFCCI Mumbai, who facilitated the discussion and audience interaction.
