Roundtable Meeting with Shri R. Ananth, Director, Customs, CBIC, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India
This high-level meeting brought together various leading French and Indian companies, who highlighted the pertinent challenges with the Indian Customs
The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) successfully organized an exclusive roundtable meeting with Shri R. Ananth, Director, Customs, CBIC, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India on Friday, 11th July 2025 at the IFCCI office in New Delhi.
The objective of the meeting was to connect various French and Indian companies across industries operating in India with the Indian Customs, providing a platform for them to share their experiences, highlight the pertinent challenges, and offer constructive suggestions to further enhance the ease of doing business and share global best practices.
The session opened with welcome remarks by Ms. Payal S.Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI who highlighted the role of IFCCI, provided a background on the advocacy department and spoke about the overall growing Indo-French trade relationship.
Thereafter, Shri R. Ananth, delivered special remarks who reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to ensuring the smooth flow of business and welcomed inputs from the companies. He also highlighted the extensive trade facilitation measures undertaken by the Government over the past decade, with many more changes and initiatives being adopted- primarily focused on the export and import of goods and services.
Mr. Priyank Prakash, Senior Manager, Advocacy & Content, IFCCI, set the background and thereafter moderated the discussions with the participating companies, that included Aerometals & Alloys, Agarwal Packers and Movers, Biomerieux India, Emball ISO India Packaging, GMR, Grindwell Norton Ltd., Moët Hennessy, MONIN India, Royal Canin, Safran India, Seahorse Ship Agencies, SNF, and Vygon India. The companies had the opportunity to illustrate their ongoing operations, share feedback on the current trade climate, and seek support in addressing regulatory and operational challenges.
This high-level interaction underscored the Indian Government’s openness to collaborating in the trade and customs sectors to facilitate business across India. The meeting concluded with a strong affirmation and strategic proposals from Shri R. Ananth, reinforcing the Government's commitment to working with both the French and Indian business communities to further strengthen Indo‑French economic cooperation.
