IFCCI organised an exclusive Roundtable interaction with Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, on 23rd May 2025, in New Delhi.

The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) was honoured to lead a French business delegation at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025, held on May 23, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This landmark initiative, organized by the Ministry of Development of the Northeastern Region (DoNER), was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.

On the sidelines of the summit, IFCCI organised an exclusive roundtable interaction with Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Assam and senior representatives from the French industry. 

The session commenced with opening remarks by Ms. Payal S. Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI, and Mr. Benoit Gauthier, Minister Counsellor for Economic and Financial Affairs and Head of the Regional Economic Department for India and South Asia, Embassy of France in India. They reflected on the outcomes of past investment engagements and underscored the significance of the upcoming Indo-French Northeast Investment Conclave, scheduled for November 2025.

Senior representatives from the French business community presented insights into their ongoing projects in the Northeastern region and expressed strong interest in exploring new investment avenues. The French delegation comprised the following members:

• Mr. Benoit Gauthier, Minister Counsellor for Economic and Financial Affairs & Head of the Regional Economic Department for India and South Asia, Embassy of France in India

• Ms. Monique Tran, Agricultural Counsellor, Embassy of France in India

• Ms. Payal S. Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI

• Mr. Shariq Khan, New Projects Manager, POMA

• Dr. Katan Hirachand, Chief Executive & Chief Country Officer, Societe Generale

• Mr. Manu Bishnoi, Director (India), Technique Solaire

• Mr. Manish Sardana, Managing Director, Vygon India

During the interaction, Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS, provided a brief overview of Assam’s ongoing and upcoming mega infrastructure projects and extended an invitation to French companies for strategic partnerships and investments in the region.

The roundtable served as a platform to discuss investment opportunities in key sectors such as infrastructure and construction, ropeway systems, banking and financial services, renewable energy, agribusiness and food processing, and healthcare.

A special mention to Mr. Manvendra Pratap Singh, IAS, Managing Director, Assam Industrial Development Corporation, for his instrumental role in facilitating this roundtable.
