IFCCI General Counsel Annual Meet & Seminar 2025
IFCCI organised its General Counsel Annual Meet & Seminar 2025 on 9th July 2025 at Hyatt Regency in New Delhi.
Themed 'The GC’s Role in a Geopolitical Edge: Mastering Global Risks', the event explored how GCs are navigating uncertainty with strategic foresight. The discussions featured deep insights on global compliance, legal enforcement, and the evolving role of General Counsels amid increasing geopolitical complexity.
Ms. Payal S. Kanwar Director General, IFCCI, in her welcome address, shared that the General Counsel & Corporate Affairs Committee was launched by IFCCI in 2018 to foster strategic legal leadership and she expressed pride in seeing the platform evolve into a robust forum connecting policy, business, and law.
The context-setting panel on Connecting the Dots - Geopolitics, Law & the GC’s Expanding Mandate, moderated by Mr. Arpinder Singh Global Markets & India Leader - Forensic & Integrity Services, EY, featured a dynamic and insightful exchange with Ms. Alina Arora, Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., Ms. Lubinisha Saha, General Counsel, India & International, Airbus & Chairperson - IFCCI GC & Corporate Affairs Committee, and Mr. Siddharth Batra, Managing Partner, Satram Dass B & Co.
This powerful opening session brought together industry leaders to discuss how GCs today are translating global complexities into actionable strategies for businesses in India. The key reflections included navigating cultural and legal differences, reconciling international compliance frameworks, and building a resilient legal ecosystem amidst geopolitical shifts.
Dr. Anju Rathi Rana, ILS, Law Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, delivered a compelling keynote on India’s evolving legal infrastructure, fast-tracked patent systems, and data governance frameworks. Dr. Rana emphasised the role of GCs as strategic enablers and she highlighted how a robust and enforceable legal system supports the vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047' by fostering institutional trust and regulatory clarity for global businesses.
The Panel Discussion on Navigating Cross-Border Investigations & Enforcement Risks was steered by Ms. Anusha Ramesh, Partner, Trilegal and the panel welcomed thought-provoking contributions from Ms. Kanika Bhutani, GM - Ethics & Compliance, Pernod Ricard India, Mr. Kanishk, Legal Director - India & South Asia, Uber & Ms. Priyam Dhamankar, Legal & Compliance Director, Company Secretary, Servier India Private Limited . The panel explored the rising complexity of multi-jurisdictional investigations, regulatory challenges in sectors like healthcare and alco-bev, and the increasing importance of documentation and risk alignment across global operations.
The event also featured a focused presentation by Mr. Vikrant Rana, Managing Partner, S.S. Rana & Co., who shared actionable insights on IP protection, counterfeit prevention, and legal frameworks for brand risk management in the digital age.
The other Panel Discussion on Beyond Borders - The Evolving Role of GCs in Global Compliance & Risk, was skillfully moderated by Mr.Avimukt Dar, Founding & Senior Partner, CMS Induslaw that featured a dynamic and insightful exchange with Ms. Bhagyashree Sett, GC & Director Legal, Contracts & Compliance, Technip Energies India, Ms. Dhwani Rao, Associate General Counsel, Nestle India & Ms. Meenakshi Gupta, Head – Legal, Nissan Motor India. This session addressed the transformative impact of AI, data privacy regulations, the interplay between GC and CHRO in implementing an effective POSH framework and sanctions compliance programs, emphasizing how legal leaders must now operate at the intersection of law, business strategy and emerging technologies.
Ms. Rishika Roy, Deputy Director, Northern Region, IFCCI concluded the seminar by thanking all attendees and partners for their active participation and continued support. The seminar was moderated by Ms. Aarushi Gautam, Senior Manager, Committees & Events.
The seminar concluded with engaging networking interactions among legal leaders, providing a platform for meaningful dialogue, peer learning and cross-industry collaboration.
