IFCCI'S Career Booster Season II - Session III

IFCCI organised its Career Booster Season II Session III, titled “Beyond the Balance Sheet: Creating Value Through Leadership and Transformation.”

The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), under the aegis of its Higher Education Committee, successfully organised its Career Booster Season II Session III on 11 September 2026, titled “Beyond the Balance Sheet: Creating Value Through Leadership and Transformation.”

The webinar brought together students, young professionals, and industry leaders to explore what value creation looks like beyond financial metrics, and the leadership qualities required to navigate mergers, cross-border governance, and organisational transformation.

The session commenced with welcome remarks by Ms. Jyotsna Mansukhani, Head – HR & Recruitment Services, IFCCI, who set the stage for a conversation on leadership, transformation, and the realities of building organisations that create lasting value.

The session then transitioned into an engaging fireside chat between Mr. Sugata Sircar, Former CFO, Schneider Electric Greater India, and current Advisor and Independent Director, and Ms. Maud Le Bars, South Asia Area Manager, OMNES Education & Chairperson, IFCCI Higher Education Committee.

Drawing from decades of experience across mergers, cross-border governance, and diverse corporate cultures, Mr. Sugata Sircar shared candid perspectives on what it truly takes to create value beyond the balance sheet. The discussion also explored the human dimensions of mergers and acquisitions, the importance of cultural understanding in cross-border leadership, and how careers evolve through intentional reinvention.

Some of the key insights shared during the session included:

  • Synergies don’t happen on paper. They are created by teams that build trust, collaborate and make integration work on the ground.
  • Integration doesn’t mean making everything the same. Successful mergers have repeatedly demonstrated how two brands and two sales forces continue to operate in parallel while integrating the back end to protect what is already working.
  • M&A success takes time to reveal itself. The real outcome often becomes visible only one to two years after the deal, not at the signing table.
  • Early warning signs matter. Slipping milestones, delayed decisions and vague explanations can signal that an integration is losing momentum.
  • Culture influences how organisations operate. Understanding how European parent companies approach delegation and control in India is itself an important leadership skill.
  • Careers get transformed with every pivot we make. Mr. Sircar’s journey from operating leadership to independent directorship, advisory roles and thought leadership showcases how career reinvention can be intentional and strategic.

The discussion underscored that true value creation is not driven by strategy alone, but by people who can build trust, navigate cultural differences, adapt to change, and turn plans into sustainable results.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where participants engaged in insightful discussions.

Through the Career Booster series, IFCCI continues to provide a platform for knowledge sharing and meaningful industry engagement, enabling students and young professionals to better understand emerging career pathways while strengthening the connection between higher education and the Indo-French business community.
