The IFCCI Luxury Committee organised a meeting with Ms. Sabiha Rizvi, Director, Leather & Footwear Division, DPIIT, on 15 September 2026, as part of its ongoing engagement with the Government on issues impacting the luxury sector, particularly those relating to Quality Control Orders (QCOs).

The meeting provided an opportunity for leading luxury brands to share their practical experiences and challenges arising from the current QCO requirements, with the objective of enabling greater understanding among the authorities and exploring possible avenues for addressing these concerns.

Key points raised by the participating brands included:

• Time and cost involved in testing products for the Indian market, particularly for footwear, and the potential impact of lengthy testing timelines on domestic sales, business growth and government revenues
• The need to streamline QCO requirements in alignment with global standards and practices
• Concerns relating to Customs procedures, highlighting areas where greater clarity and facilitation could support smoother business operations

IFCCI will continue to engage with the relevant authorities on these issues and support dialogue towards practical solutions for the luxury industry.
