IFCCI HR Committee People Vantage Session I: The Wage Code in Practice
IFCCI’s HR Committee organised the inaugural People Vantage webinar on The Wage Code in Practice on 23rd October 2026
The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI), under the aegis of its HR Committee successfully hosted the inaugural session of People Vantage - a dedicated knowledge series featuring expert-led webinars, focused discussions, and practical workshops for the IFCCI HR Committee.
The session focused on the topic, "Wage Code in Practice: Addressing Implementation Challenges" and broughttogether HR Heads and business leaders for an exclusive webinar led by senior experts from Capgemini who shared practical insights on navigating the implementation complexities.
Session opened with remarks by Ms. Jyotsna Mansukhani, Head – HR & Recruitment, IFCCI, who introduced the People Vantage vision, establishing the series as a platform to translate policy, practice, and emerging trends into actionable strategies for corporate leaders.
Ms. Aarti Srivastava, CHRO, Capgemini India & Chairperson, IFCCI HR Committee, delivered the welcome address and framed the strategic imperatives in leading business, emphasising how organisational preparedness, compliance rigour and employee trust must converge during major regulatory shifts.
Case Study Presentation led by Mr. Gunjan Rai, India Head – C&B, Capgemini and Mr. Purushottam Singh Sengar, India Head – HR Compliance, ER & Controls, Capgemini, detailed how their organisation realigned pay structures following the consolidation of 29 central laws into the four Labour Codes. The experts walked the audience through the structural definition of "wages" under the 50% threshold, highlighting that simply increasing basic salary does not guarantee compliance without precise classification of included and excluded components. They provided a clear update on the regulatory landscape noting that while Central Rules were notified in May 2026, state-level rollouts remain dynamic.
Key best practices:
- People-Centric Guardrails: Establish core principles early, such as protecting employee take-home pay, avoiding tax disadvantages and synchronising structural pay changes directly with the annual increment cycle to ensure smooth adoption.
- Pragmatic State-by-State Compliance: Align first with the central statute while maintaining current state filings, sequentially updating practices as individual states finalise their specific rules, while ensuring HRIS systems and evidence remain inspection-ready.
The session featured a Q&A moderated by Ms.Bhawna Khurana, Head- HR, Louis Vuitton India & Vice-Chairperson, IFCCI HR Committee, followed by closing remarks reaffirming IFCCI HR Committee’s commitment to facilitating high-impact peer exchanges.
Our sincere thanks to Capgemini and our expert speakers for sharing their practical roadmap with the IFCCI community.
