IFCCI Dialogue on Customs and Regulatory Frameworks with French Embassy and Industry

As part of IFCCI’s ongoing advocacy initiatives, we were pleased to convene Corporate Affairs leaders from French companies for an introductory interaction with Ms. Ana Verron, Customs Attaché at the French Embassy in India.

The session marked Ms. Verron’s formal introduction in her role overseeing customs matters across India and South Asia, and provided a valuable platform for an open and constructive exchange on customs procedures, regulatory frameworks, and the practical challenges faced by French companies operating in India.

This engagement builds on IFCCI’s earlier interaction with Shri Ananth R, Director (Customs), Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), where key industry concerns were highlighted and shared with the customs authorities. The continuity of these dialogues reflects a sustained effort to ensure that industry perspectives are consistently represented and addressed.

The discussion enabled participants to further refine priority issues, including procedural clarity, efficiency in clearances, and greater predictability in regulatory implementation. It also underscored the importance of strengthened industry–institutional coordination in navigating an increasingly complex trade environment.

As a follow-up, IFCCI will continue to structure its advocacy roadmap through targeted engagements with relevant authorities, with the objective of addressing operational bottlenecks and facilitating smoother trade processes.

This initiative comes at a pivotal time, particularly in the context of evolving trade dynamics and the anticipated EU–India Free Trade Agreement, where enhanced customs cooperation and streamlined processes will be critical.
