IFCCI CSR-General Counsel Committees Joint Committee Meeting

Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), organised a Joint Committee Meeting for the members of its CSR and General Counsel Committees on 29th September in Mumbai, hosted by L'Oréal India, on the sidelines of IFCCI's 49th AGM.

Under the theme 'CSR Regulatory & Compliance Landscape: Emerging Developments & Key Considerations for CSR & Legal Teams’, the session brought together senior CSR and Legal professionals to explore a question that is becoming increasingly relevant for businesses:
How can organisations balance ambition and impact with strong governance and regulatory compliance?

The conversation touched upon:

• Emerging regulatory and compliance developments shaping CSR
• Strengthening governance frameworks and internal processes
• Practical challenges in implementing CSR initiatives while ensuring compliance
• Evolving CSR priorities, thematic areas and emerging trends
• The growing need for closer collaboration between CSR and Legal teams

Opening the session, Leaders of the IFCCI CSR and GC Committees respectively, Mr. Kumar Anurag Pratap (Capgemini India) and Ms. Farnawaz Mistry (Roquette) pointed out that as CSR evolves from compliance to strategic impact, its alignment with legal and business strategy will grow in importance.

Mr. Aafaq Bhatri, BSR & Associates LLP, shared insights on the regulatory and compliance landscape, key developments and considerations for organisations.

Mr. Yohann Samuel, Regional Director (South), IFCCI, and Mr. Abdul Azeem, CSR Manager, IFCCI, also shared an overview of the journey of IFCCI’s CSR Department and its engagement with member companies and partners.

The roundtable exchange with members added another important dimension to the discussion, bringing in real-world perspectives on CSR priorities, implementation challenges, thematic focus areas and emerging trends.
