New Delhi: IFCCI Consumer Goods & Services Committee Meeting With CEO, FSSAI, Mr. Pawan Kumar Agarwal

The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) led a delegation of French Food and Beverage companies for a roundtable meeting with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Chairmanship of Mr. Pawan Agarwal, CEO, FSSAI to discuss FSSAI Regulations specifically on those parts that are of interest to the French companies in India.

From IFCCI, this meeting was led by Ms. Payal S. Kanwar, Secretary General, IFCCI, Mr. Stéphane de Meurville, Chairman and Mr. Sumeet Anand, Vice Chairman of the IFCCI Consumer Goods and Services Committee.

French companies are world leaders in the food industry and France is currently one of the top investors in India with more than 500 established companies in India. The meeting was attended by 30 company representatives who form a part of the IFCCI Consumer Goods and Services committee including companies such as Danone, Moet and Hennessey, Decathlon, Mane, Louis Dreyfus, Lesaffre, Delifrance, Roquette etc. The participating companies represented a total of 3500 crores of investments already made in the country.

The objective of the meeting was to better understand the various regulations governing the food industry. The focus was centered around a feedback survey conducted among all participating companies to understand their views with regards to the ease of doing business in India. The discussion revolved around topics such as FSSAI Regulations and Standards  specifically for Alcoholic beverages, Additives, Advertising and claims, product approval, licensing for single brand retail and import requirements as well as other queries put forward by companies operating in wine and spirits, cheese, bakery, ingredients, industrial catering and flavors. The meeting effectively helped in addressing issues of the companies.
