Luxury Committee closed-door meeting with Mr. Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India
IFCCI organized a closed-door meeting for its luxury committee on 9th February 2024.
Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) organized a closed-door meeting for its luxury committee with Mr. Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India on 9th February 2024, with an aim to represent the collective interests of French luxury brands in India and discuss the recent quality control order by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the luxury brands operating in India.
Ms. Payal S. Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI opened the session and thanked the Secretary, MoCA, Mr. Singh for agreeing to meet the members of the Industry and apprised him about IFCCI and its activities. Talking about the dynamic Indo-French trade relations that are at an all-time high, she mentioned luxury as an emerging area given India’s importance as a growing luxury market.
Mr. Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, cordially addressed the concerns of the Industry and assured the Government's support towards facilitating the development of this sector in the country. Key officials from the BIS were also a part of these discussions.
Mr. Sébastien Connan, IP Counsellor, French Embassy in New Delhi, and Ms. Sara Zennaro Atre, Counsellor - Trade and Economic Affairs, Delegation of the European Union to India also attended the meeting.
