The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), through its Luxury Committee, curated a series of conversations titled Indo-French Design Dialogues as part of Art de Vivre 2026 at the India Design ID Symposium. The sessions brought together leading voices from design, luxury, hospitality, and creative industries to examine the evolving role of design as a cultural, experiential, and strategic force in Indo-French collaboration.

The dialogues opened with remarks by Payal S. Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI, who highlighted President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to India earlier in the week and reflected on the India–France Year of Innovation.

Srimoyi Bhattacharya, Chairperson, IFCCI Luxury Committee, reflected on how design has evolved beyond memory and aesthetics to assume a deeper responsibility, one that creates experiences, translates cultures across borders, and supports co-creation.

The dialogues positioned design as a powerful cultural and commercial force, shaped by context, craftsmanship, material intelligence, and emotional resonance rather than fleeting trends. Discussions emphasised balancing heritage with contemporary relevance, storytelling with professionalism, and innovation with authenticity. Design emerged not merely as form, but as an immersive experience that builds emotional connection, brand identity, and long-term value across fashion, travel, retail, hospitality, and luxury, while reinforcing the importance of cross-cultural exchange and Indo-French collaboration in future-facing creative narratives.

The dialogues featured Vikram Goyal, Founder, Vikram Goyal Studio & VIYA; India Mahdavi, Architect & Designer; Gayatri Rangachari Shah, Journalist & Author; Sheetal Munshaw, Managing Director, Atout France India; Laure Daynié, Senior Executive, Air France; Hemant Mediratta, Managing Director, Galeries Lafayette India; Ludivine Zangleré, Senior Vice President, Accor; Hemant Sagar, Co-founder & CEO, Lecoanet Hemant; Manju Sara Rajan, Writer, Editor & Arts Manager; Paolo Caratelli, Academic Leader, Istituto Marangoni Dubai; Peter D’Ascoli, Founder, Italianna Studio; and Cédric Brochier, CEO, Brochier Soieries 1890.

Collectively, the dialogues reinforced design’s role as a cultural translator—bridging tradition and modernity, craft and technology, and local identity with global relevance.

Through these dialogues, IFCCI reinforced the role of design as a catalyst for cultural exchange, innovation, and long-term Indo-French collaboration, positioning creative industries at the heart of future-facing luxury and business narratives.

The dialogues concluded with the Innovation Award ceremony led by Mr. Aurélien Sostaponti, Director (Mumbai), Business France, where THE WORKS INDIA was awarded as a winner for the Aranyani Pavilion.
