Held ahead of the Indo-French Business Awards 2026, the exclusive gathering brought together nearly 40 CEOs from French member companies alongside senior diplomats from the French Embassy in India, opening with a networking session that set a collaborative tone for the discussions ahead.

The formal proceedings were initiated with introductory remarks by Ms. Payal S. Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI, followed by welcome remarks by Mr. Jean Touboul, President, IFCCI & CEO, Pernod Ricard India, both of whom reaffirmed the Chamber's continued commitment to deepening Indo-French business engagement.

H.E. Mr. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India, delivered a compelling address touching upon the momentum of the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, the evolving bilateral partnership, and concrete initiatives in the pipeline to further strengthen ties between the two countries.

The intellectual centrepiece of the meeting was a fireside conversation featuring Dr. Swasti Rao, Associate Professor, Jindal School of International Studies, JGU and Consulting Editor, Strategic and International Affairs, ThePrint, and Ambassador Dr. Mohan Kumar, Professor & Dean, Strategic and International Initiatives, OP Jindal Global University & Former Indian Ambassador to France.

The exchange navigated complex themes including the ripple effects of global geopolitical conflicts on international trade, the rebalancing of global alliances, and the increasing primacy of geopolitics over geo-economics. The speakers also highlighted India's strategic opportunity to diversify its energy mix and advance its green and solar energy transition in partnership with France, and emphasised the significance of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement in shaping the future of bilateral commerce and investment.

The session concluded with a lively interactive Q&A, drawing rich perspectives from the CEOs present and reinforcing the value of sustained, high-level Indo-French dialogue.
