IFCCI in collaboration with the Embassy of France in India and Team France, hosted a Conference on India's Preparation for Paris 2024, in New Delhi

The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), in collaboration with the Embassy of France in India, Alliance française de Delhi and Team France, hosted a distinguished Conference on India's Preparation for Paris 2024, on the 8th of July 2024, in New Delhi.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by Ms. Payal S.Kanwar, Director General of IFCCI who emphasised the importance of organising this conference as a means to acknowledge the efforts, dedication, and passion that our athletes and support teams have invested in the preparations for Paris 2024.
H.E. Mr. Thierry Mathou, in his special remarks, said that the Paris Games, exemplifying the values of international solidarity, innovation, sustainability and equality, would be different in many ways. He also announced that the Embassy of France in India, the 4 Consulates and Alliance française network in India would host ‘Fan Zones’, where sports enthusiasts could congregate to watch the Games, take part in contests, enjoy exhibitions, movies, and much more.
Following this, a fireside conversation unfolded between Ms. Alexandra de Navacelle de Coubertin, President of the Pierre de Coubertin Family Association, and Ms. Payal S. Kanwar, which shed light on the history of Mr. Pierre de Coubertin's commitment and vision to revive the Olympics in 1924, this year marks the 130th anniversary since the revival of the Modern Day Olympics.
Subsequently, a panel discussion on India's Preparation for Paris 2024 was skillfully moderated by Ms. Sharda Ugra, an esteemed Sports Journalist & Author. The distinguished panelists, including Mr. Abhinav Bindra, 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist and Young Leader of the France-India Foundation; Mr. Adille J.Sumariwalla, President of the Athletics Federation of India; Mr. Kunal, Joint Secretary-Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India; and Ms. Manisha Malhotra, Head of Sports Excellence and Scouting at JSW Sports, shared profound insights into their respective journeys and thoughts on the ongoing preparations by the current generation of athletes for Paris 2024. They also expressed high hopes and optimism and visualised the country's athletes bagging medals in double digits in the upcoming Games.
Another highlight of the event were the special prizes given to the Lucky Draw winners, these prizes included a return ticket to Paris from India (by Air France) and a fully paid stay in France, including city passes (by Atout France).
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mr. Stéphane Amalir, Director, Alliance française de Delhi and a networking cocktail along with an exhibition exhibiting a display of winners from past Olympics.
