PUDUCHERRY: The maiden regatta and nautical event - 'Sailing the East Coast' - will be held in the Union territory of Puducherry from January 25 to 28. Pondicherry Sailing Association will host the event with the support of the French and Puducherry governments as part of the annual Indo-French festival, 'Bonjour India'.CM V Narayanasamy and consul general of France in Puducherry Catherine Suard made a formal announcement about the boat race on Thursday. The contest will attract close to 50 competitors, including international sailors, Olympic champion Felix Pruvot and the French national team. Prominent international sailors include Mael Garnier, Alexandre Kowalski, Leo Maurin, Ivan Scolan and Sofiane Karim from France and Valentin Boyer and Clementine Bretagne from La Reunion Island.
This edition of 'Bonjour India' fest will include more than 80 events, besides the regatta and nautical events focusing on innovation, creativity and on the partnership between India and France.
