Grenoble Ecole de Management partners with Grenoble Institute of Technology in the creation of a degree in engineering: a first in France!
For the first time in France, a business school will actively participate in the design and management of a degree in engineering, one of the most prestigious and influential degrees in France. The degree, which takes its first students in the next academic year, is open to working professionals with a Bachelors degree and with at least three years professional experience.
The degree will be delivered by Grenoble Institute of Technology (GIT) in partnership with Grenoble Ecole de Management and will focus on Management Technology, Grenoble’s key area of expertise.
Often described as the Alpine Silicon Valley of Europe, Grenoble is a hotbed of technology and its institutions including Grenoble Ecole de Management and GIT play an active role in this dynamic and high-tech environment. Both schools have been joining their forces for over 20 years by developing together many other executive education training and research programmes.
Thierry Grange, Dean of Grenoble Ecole de Management, said: “Both Grenoble Ecole de Management and Grenoble Institute of Technology share the same mission: that of assisting businesses in providing them with highly demanded skills and knowledge. This is why we have jointly developed innovative training programmes adapted to the needs of businesses and of their employees. Through this new engineering degree we aim continue to actively participate to the national and international economic environment. With its specificity in Management Technology, the degree could have only originated in Grenoble, renowned for its expertise in such field.”
Paul Jacquet, President of Grenoble Institute of Technology said: “This new degree marks over 20 years of collaboration with Grenoble Ecole de Management. With it, we pave the way towards the creation of new engineering degrees, associating the science of engineering with that of business. This engineering degree in Management Technology is a truly innovative concept and a first in France, that we are proud to have established alongside Grenoble Ecole de Management.”

Grenoble Ecole de Management launches summer sessions in China
Twenty-six lucky students from Grenoble Ecole de Management were selected to attend the school’s first summer session in China beginning in May 2007.
This new summer session consists of two weeks of lectures, followed by 4 weeks of internships in local or international companies based in Shanghai.
While the lectures include courses in intercultural management, doing business in China, examining its economic environment and a survival Chinese language module, the internships will provide students with unique hands-on work experience.
Christopher Cripps, Associate Dean for International Affairs at Grenoble Ecole de Management, explained: “Backed by popular demand and further to the success of our summer sessions in USA, Australia and Germany, we decided to design this first Chinese summer session to offer our students intercultural management skills and an international outlook in both business and personal life.
“We chose Shanghai for it is the business centre in China. We are given the students the opportunity to experience life in one of China's largest, most cosmopolitan cities.
“This programme also offers a unique opportunity in the sense that there are not many English taught programmes available in China. These sessions are sure to present students with a valuable experience that will highly benefit their studies and future careers.”
This latest venture comes as the Grenoble school’s activities in China are flourishing such as its international residencies and executive programmes for Chinese and USA executives, a joint Doctorate of Business Administration degree in partnership with Tongji University, two recruitment offices, and student and faculty exchanges.

Grenoble Ecole de Management launches "Discontinuous Innovation Lab France"
With its expertise in management of technology and innovation, Grenoble Ecole de Management has recently launched the first French Discontinuous Innovation Lab (DIL) network.
Founded by John Bessant from the Advanced Institute of Management Research (UK), Discontinuous Innovation Lab is an international network bringing together researchers and managers in order for them to combine their forces to create innovative competencies, best practices and knowledge.
Discontinuous Innovation Lab is about institutions breaking the mould and thinking out of the box in order to create new business models, services, products and thus new market opportunities.
The basics of DIL is to bring together two worlds, that of research and business, often detached from one another in order for them to generate new opportunities, with each party sharing what it knows and its experiences across boundaries.
It is the “Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE)” from Grenoble Ecole de Management which leads the French Discontinuous Innovation Lab with the mission of encouraging researchers and managers to collaborate on a common platform.
About Discontinuous Innovation Lab
DIL is an international and interdisciplinary group of innovation researchers. Interested in generating knowledge about how organizations can cope with disruptive or discontinuous innovation, its activities are designed to have strong impact on business practice by offering access to latest thinking in innovation research, open space for cross-boundary exchange, restricted access to invited participants only, international networking, joint learning and the potential to build a strong “community of practice”.
